WHO WE ARE

Hama Health Education Consultant Organization (HETCO) Uganda is a Ugandan community-based and not-for-profit organization established in 2022 and registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee in 2023. In January 2026, HETCO Uganda attained NGO status.

HETCO Uganda was founded by health professionals and later expanded to include professionals from other disciplines who share a commitment to improving the lives and wellbeing of vulnerable and underserved communities.

We work with young people, adolescents, children, pregnant mothers, older persons, refugees, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups through community and institutional programs focused on health awareness, sexual and reproductive health, mentorship, professional development, research, innovation, disease prevention, and livelihood empowerment.

HETCO Uganda works to strengthen communities through health education, capacity building, advocacy, research, partnerships, and practical community-based interventions that contribute to healthier, empowered, resilient, and economically productive communities.

To continuously provide community health services which impact the wellbeing of the community members’ economically, psychologically, physically and socially especially that vulnerable people.

GOAL

To improve community public health ,livelihoods and capacity for attainment of sustainable healthy society, nutrition and a skilled young society able to generate income at al levels

OUR SIX STRATEGIC PILLARS

1. Community Health, Disease Prevention & Health Promotion

We promote health awareness and preventive health practices through community outreach, health education, screening, disease surveillance, WASH, nutrition, primary healthcare awareness, and epidemic preparedness.

2. Sexual, Reproductive, Mental Health & Rights

We promote access to accurate health information and services relating to sexual and reproductive health, adolescent health, mental health, substance-abuse prevention, gender-based violence prevention, counseling, and protection of health rights.

3. Youth Empowerment, Education & Skills Development

We empower young people through mentorship, career guidance, scholarships, vocational skills, entrepreneurship, professional development, and employment-oriented programs that enable them to become self-reliant and productive members of society.

4. Research, Innovation & Professional Development

We generate and use evidence to address community health and development challenges through research, innovation, training, professional development, knowledge generation, and evidence-based programming.

5. Social Protection, Inclusion & Specialized Care

We promote inclusive programming and equitable participation of women, men, children, older persons, persons with disabilities, refugees, and other vulnerable groups. This includes counseling, elderly and disability support, home-based and bedside care, and advocacy for social protection and human rights.

6. Livelihoods, Environment & Community Resilience

We strengthen household and community resilience through savings and financial literacy, productive livelihood opportunities, environmental protection, sustainable natural-resource management, climate and disaster preparedness, and community capacity building.
